Business Coaching: a game-changer for Small Businesses
Business Coaching, like other kinds of coaching, is focused on supporting individuals and teams so that they can unlock their potential, stay focused on goals and actions, and be held accountable to a trusted partner for getting the work done. But most small business owners aren't only leaders in their companies, they are also working hard *in* the business. Business coaching is a structured and highly effective way to get you working *on* your business too.
Do you feel like you have a thought partner for the problems that come up in your business? Most of the time, we turn to our friends, family, and maybe other business owners, for support and advice. But the truth is, it is very hard to find someone who will objectively engage with you around your problems, ask you the tough questions others might not ask, and work with you to develop your own solutions. Our loved ones just want us to be happy - our business friends are often quick with advice or need to share their own problems - the only thing a business coach wants is for you to be wildly successful by digging into the obstacles that are slowing your business' growth and effectiveness.
A business coach works with clients from many different industries and business categories. It doesn't matter what industry - what matters is that business leaders all face similar challenges. A major priority in the work together is enhancing your performance, streamlining your processes & engaging your employees, addressing any organizational obstacles, and achieving your full potential. Peter is your partner in building insight and guidance.
As a trusted sounding board, Peter among other things can help you grow self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking. He will help you get through a wide spectrum of challenges such as time management, attention and energy management, business development, employee management and engagement, and work-life balance.
The best coaches do not give advice - they give deep insights that positively influence you and your business over the long term. Transformation at the heart of your business (that is, YOU!) will lead to stronger performance, greater effectiveness, and more engaged employees.
FAQ
-
Why choose business coaching?
Because everyone benefits from coaching. Top athletes, superstars, and corporate executives all have coaches, because coaches take a long view of the big picture. They challenge assumptions, introduce new ideas, and inspire you to take action in productive ways.
-
How long does it take to get benefits from coaching?
Simple operational solutions often deliver very fast results, while those stickier issues build value for you over time with early wins and sustained progress. In the end, business coaching is like the rest of your business: results come from how well you engage in the process and how well you can do the work to implement the solutions we build.
-
How can a business coach know about so many industries? Don't I need a specialist?
Here's the tough truth about coaching. You want a coach that will ask you the tough questions you're not asking yourself, give you the compassion and attention you're not giving yourself, and help you be accountable to yourself for progress. That happens through a very specific training the best coaches undergo. It does not happen naturally - just like you want a trained accountant, and trained electrician, and a trained doctor ... you want a trained coach. Peter doesn't need to know a ton about your business - that's what you're there for. Peter needs to know what's in your way so he can help you over it, through it, under it or around it.
-
How many times should I plan to meet with Peter?
As many as you need to solve a problem and implement the solution effectively. For some people, if the problem is complex, this might be a longer coaching engagement, or a more intense one (meeting very often). But for most people we recommend choosing 1, 2, or 3 meetings and seeing what we can do together!
-
If I get three sessions and only need two, what happens?
We'll hold that one for the next time you need to solve a problem. Coaching meetings must be used within a calendar year, from date of purchase. But show us one business that only has one problem to solve and we'll show you a world where pigs fly! Running a business is tough and the business landscape changes fast.
-
What is the coaching process?
Peter identifies friction points and roadblocks that keep the business from achieving the results the owner desires. There are three basic models that are proven effective for business coaching. The TOMS method (Topic-Outcome-Meaning-Success) is highly effective for specific problems or situations. The GROW method (Goal-current Reality-Options-Willpower) is excellent for goal-setting through action planning to meet a longer term objective. The 4-D appreciative inquiry model (Discover-Dream-Design-Deliver) gives exceptional results when planning new initiatives or big changes or dealing with significant growth.
-
How often do we meet?
Meetings occur two or three times a month to ensure maximum effectiveness with the least interruption in daily activity.
-
How long do the meetings last?
The typical structured meeting lasts about 50 minutes. Peter is always available via e-mail or text for any issues that might arise between meetings, and additional time can be arranged if needed.
-
How can a coach understand my business?
You are the expert on your business. The coach is an expert on business development, setting and achieving goals, and business owners. A coach does not do your work for you, but rather introduces new ideas, helps set attainable goals, and helps you achieve results through the implementation of your designed solution.

When and how do we start?
If you are tired of working too hard and long, feeling alone with the weight of your business on your shoulders, or consumed with people issues or the many frustrations of business ownership, let's talk now. It is never too late and never to early to get coached.
